Shamaa joins Transcend as Partner, Research and Development with close to two decades of experience working in public schools in Austin,Texas. She will support partnerships through any stage of the R&D process to apply research and evidence to foster innovation and continuous improvement.
Prior to joining Transcend, Shamaa was a Mathematics and Engineering teacher who assisted in the designing, planning, and founding of the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, a public all girls 6-12 STEM school. There she held numerous leadership roles including Chair of Mathematics, Chair of STEM, Instructional Coach, and Team Leader. Shamaa received numerous teaching awards and accolades including; HEB Educator of Excellence Finalist, Austin ISD Middle School Teacher of the year, Young Women’s Preparatory Network Educator of Excellence, and Austin Area Gifted and Talented Teacher of the Year. Prior to her career in Education, Shamaa was a Mechanical Research and Design Engineer in the semiconductor industry.
Shamaa holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Cognition and Creativity from Texas A&M University.
Shamaa lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, two sons, and two fur pups. Shamaa enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating, being in nature, and joyously laughing.
