$2M Fund Launched to Accelerate Innovation in Communities

Transcend announces the Community-Led Education Initiatives Fund to support change that builds extraordinary and equitable educational experiences

Communities across the country, July 20, 2022 — Transcend, a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to support communities to create and spread extraordinary, equitable learning environments, is proud to share news of a new grant opportunity designed to catalyze community-driven educational change in mid-size and smaller cities or rural areas across the country.  Approximately five grants of up to $400,000 each will be awarded to applicants that are supporting community engagement to drive transformational educational change.

“This initiative is built on the belief that communities, while often under-resourced, are best positioned to identify their own needs and drive leadership in the most promising change efforts,” shares Lavada Berger, Transcend Partner.  “The intent of the fund is to provide financial support to existing or emergent local initiatives to accelerate student learning both inside and outside of traditional school settings.”

Those interested can apply or nominate organizations supporting community-driven educational change by August 28, 2022. Priority will be given to groups from mid-size and smaller cities or rural areas.

The Community-Led Education Initiative Fund is funded through support from the Walton Family Foundation. Transcend will incorporate participatory grant-making principles to ensure communities play a role in selection decisions.  Learn more and apply by visiting:  www.transcendeducation.org/grants
