Reimagining Educator Roles

Reimagining Educator Roles

Learning Analysis

2025

Why we set out to learn from communities reimagining educator roles & student learning
Many of today’s schools reflect outdated approaches, including the design of the educator role. But across the country, schools are moving beyond the one teacher, one classroom model and transforming what it means to teach and learn.

In 2025, Transcend partnered with the Robertson Foundation to explore how pioneer schools are reimagining teaching and learning to create extraordinary experiences and outcomes for students and educators.

Core to Transcend’s strategy is helping communities design and spread school models that create extraordinary experiences and outcomes for young people. To achieve that goal, and as an end in its own right, we believe schools must also create extraordinary experiences and outcomes for educators.

We began this project energized by the momentum building in the field to reimagine teaching and learning; our conviction in the power of this work has deepened over the last year. We believe building a conducive ecosystem with lasting change involves many organizations locking arms to pursue this work.
